A cranberry-focused fruit salad with winter spices

My mom made this every Christmas. I think she and I were the only ones who liked it.
Ingredients
- 2 apples, chopped
- 1 package fresh cranberries (16 oz?)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 can (15 oz) sliced peaches, drained
- 1 can (15 oz) apricot halves, drained
- 1 tsp grated orange peel
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- Optional: chopped pecans, to taste
Procedure
In saucepan, combine all ingredients except nuts. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered until the apples and cranberries are tender or pop, ~10-15 minutes. Stir in pecans. Serve warm or chilled. Store in refrigerator.
I may add more apples and use more cinnamon -- whatever your taste. I also cut up peaches and apricots to bite-size pieces.
